Ten tracks of Afro house from Sydney, led by live saxophone. Out now on Spotify.
Orget Sax, the Sydney saxophonist, today releases his debut album, Long Way Home. Ten original tracks, built on Afro house rhythm and carried by the saxophone that has made him one of the country's most booked live players.
The record is a first for an artist whose working life has been spent in front of a room, not a screen. For two decades Orget has played weddings, brand launches, yacht decks and stadium stages across Australia, reading a crowd in seconds and turning a quiet moment into the one people film. Long Way Home puts that instinct on record: warm low end, unhurried percussion, and a saxophone that leads rather than decorates.
The ten tracks move through the night in order. First Light opens with space and patience. Golden Hour and Homecoming lift the tempo before Hypnotic settles into the kind of groove built for a long set. The title track sits at the centre of the album, and the back half runs from Late Night through Old Radio to the closing warmth of Warm Rain.
It is Afro house as it sounds from the band side of the room: human, loose and played rather than programmed. All ten tracks are live on Spotify now, and the full record plays start to finish in under forty minutes.
Orget Sax is a Sydney saxophonist and entertainer. He has performed at more than 3,000 events, from luxury weddings and private celebrations to corporate launches and stadium stages, and performs wireless so he can play through a crowd rather than from a stage.
